We really enjoyed our stay here. It’s in a great location, we went to Hexham, Bamburgh, Alnwick and over the border to Gretna Green. The slight ‘issues’ we faced include the bifold doors sticking quite a lot, we found them really tricky to open and to close. Additionally, parking was slightly problematic due to the shape of the driveway and how the gate opens. We were lucky that the people in the adjoining cottage, using their space on the shared driveway, left before us each day - otherwise we’d have had to knock on their door and asked them to move their car to allow us off the driveway.Overall a great stay in a lovely cottage in a great location and I would recommend - just be aware of the potentially awkward/ tricky parking situation.

Clean, everything provided for our short break of 4 nights, ideal for walking, cycling and visiting local roman sites. This was our second time at this property and enjoyed it all once again.

We feel this cottage is suitable for a long weekend, rather than a whole week (or longer). On arrival, the bins in the kitchen and upstairs bathroom still had rubbish in them. There were four hangers for trousers, but no wardrobe, so nowhere to hang shirts, blouses, dresses. There was no Wi-fi for the whole week. This was problematic for us because we needed to get online. The on-site parking could also have been a problem if the adjoining property had been occupied during our stay. Stoney Wall is allocated one space, whilst the other property has two. The parking area is quite small, with access through a narrow gate. Three cars would struggle not to block each other in. Another niggle, which actually made us laugh, was that the only cutlery knives were steak knives. Try spreading butter and honey on toast with a very pointed steak knife. Bring a rounded knife with you.Having said that, the location was excellent. Plenty of walking right from the front door, and the A69 and B6318 close by for forays further afield. The garden was also nice. A sun shade would have made it more pleasant during the heat of the day.
