About Otterstone Cottage

Otterstone Cottage is a 200-year-old former shepherd's home sitting right at the foot of Kielder Water in Northumberland. This characterful stone cottage offers incredible lake views from almost every window and sits within the International Dark Skies Park - perfect for stargazing without light pollution.

The location is bloody brilliant. You're just 1 mile from the nearest pub, 1.5 miles from Falstone village and surrounded by forests perfect for walks and bike rides. Fancy getting wet? Try sailing, canoeing or water-skiing on Kielder Water when in season. The cottage sits in a peaceful spot where you'll hear more birdsong than traffic.

Inside you'll find two king-size bedrooms with lake views, a family bathroom with shower and a cozy lounge with a stone fireplace and French doors opening to the garden. The kitchen comes fully equipped with all mod cons including a 'Tassimo' coffee machine. Smart TVs in both the kitchen and lounge mean you won't miss your favorite shows.

We loved staying here! The cottage's position at the edge of Kielder Water offers breathtaking views, especially at sunset. We just spent a fantastic week at Otterstone cottageand honestly, it was exactly what we needed for a peaceful getaway. The location is stunning and super tranquil. The cottage feels really cosy and welcoming, especially the sitting room with the lovely fire-so warm and inviting. The views are absolutely breathtakingand the beds are incredibly comfortable; we slept like logs. The shower was a bit snug for my 6ft 1in son, but he enjoyed the bath instead. The hot tub took ages to warm up and was a bit tricky to keep hot, so we only used it a couple of times. Overall, a lovely stay and we'd definitely recommend it!

The decking and plant pots definitely need some paintand adding some summer bedding plants would brighten things up. The garden could do with weeding and nettle removal. With a little update, this place could be truly fabulous!

We had a lovely stay overall. The cottage was warm, spaciousand had everything we needed. Even with the unpredictable weather, we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub (though it does take ages to heat up!). There are plenty of walks nearby, but watch out for the forestry trucks on the road-some drive pretty fast. It's a shame the garden gate is locked, so we couldn't explore the field to the dam. The dark skies and peaceful silence made it really special. We'd definitely come back!
